Active Volcanos!

Yellow stone national park is the world’s largest active volcano- due to erupt in the next 40-100 years.
The destructive force will completely destroy anything within a 900KM radius of the blast zone. Volcanic ash will fill the air over america most of mexico and all of canada. Such ash is lethal to breathe, and causes mass structural damage.

Luckily the rest of the world wont be indangered by this event much, as the ash will turn to stone in the cold moist air of the atlantic.

But what will american/mexico/canada do? will European or chinese nations settle the mostly empty land?
is there anything that can be done to minimize damage and loss of life?
i got the estimate time span from a Nat-Geo program. They stated that the time span was on the conservative side as the eruption is long over due :S
